Frequently Asked Questions

SALES

  • Drop-ins are welcome, however, we do strongly recommend calling or emailing ahead to make an appointment. Since we offer a wide variety of instruments from modern to antique, we will ask what type of instrument would be appropriate for the kind of playing you do, as well as the price range you are looking in. Then we can prepare for your visit. We have private trial rooms for you to try all the instruments or bows.

  • Yes. Once you have found a violin, viola, cello, or bow that you like, we offer a 1 week in-home trial period so you can get further acquainted with it. You may take more than one instrument or bow. Many players find this step incredibly helpful in making a final decision.

RENTALS

  • No. Our rental stock is separate from our inventory for sale. However, you may apply the first 6 months of rental fees toward the purchase of any instrument in the shop, including the instrument you have rented.

  • Visit our rentals page! We stock all sizes of instruments for players of all ages. It’s always a good idea to call ahead for rentals so that we can reserve the appropriate size for you. Additionally, if you are not sure what size you need, we can help determine the correct size.

  • Rental outfits include the instrument, case, bow and rosin. It’s a good idea to ask your teacher if they recommend using a shoulder rest for violin and viola players or an endpin stop for cellists.

  • No, we do not teach in-store lessons. There are many excellent teachers in the north bay & greater Northern California. Call or email us and we will be happy to provide you with contact info for teachers from our list.
